Why this?

I spend some time thinking about "the right" case. I knew that the best pick will be finding something that actually isn't "only" a problem of others, the right case will be a problem of mine also. I started to stare at my phone, look for the right app. The red thumbnail got my eye. Smilled and realized that i didn't open it since months. I thought to myself "wow this used to be a huge part of my life", part that influenced the person that i am now. I remembered when i was waiting for the shoes for 2 days straight to get the pair i want, than i grew up and switched to online raffles, obviously one of the places i could win was the snkrs app, i was waking up morning to try to win a pair. Guess what, never did. Thing that i mean is... I’ve been a sneakerhead, use to love sneakers, but since resell and bots became a good hustle i thought to myself that from now on its not about the design, fashion, innovation, style, and passion. Now it's about money, connections and bots. If i have passion but no money i have no chance. Sad, isn't it? Especially if your in your early 20s. Yes, its brutal if you will think deeper about it.

Connecting the dots - research outcome

While i connected the dots i realized that we have a great community of people who love sneakers... they collect them, have knowlage about them but... at the same time  they dont have an access to get the models that are hyped enough to became valuable as a trading item.  As the app is a mother nike app, i think that the good move is to focus on the community that is really involved in the society.

cultural, society, age context

Less and less people engage offline and forgot about the fun on life. There is a lot of negativity and disapoitment daily, lets try to make it at least easlier and more fair the get the pair of sneakers we love... you know without selling 5 other pairs from the collection. At lest for the real fans...

Synthesis...

Problem

Users cannot successfully purchase high-demand sneakers due to bots and resellers monopolizing stock, making the process very frustrating.

Solution

Introduce features that reduce frustration from losing draws while promoting fairness, engagement, and brand loyalty. These update aim to create a positiv experience, greater sense of control, reward active users, and strengthen their connection to the brand.

Rabit-Hole

Making an online social platform for sneakerheads.

No-Gos

Features that undermine fairness, like pay-to-win models, resale incentives, overly complicated verification, or creating too much exclusivity.

HOW MIGHT WE increase users satisfaction, make sneaker-raffles less frustrating and deploy more user control into the process ?

develope phase

We might do this...

  1. Point System: Users can earn points for participating in draws, engaging with the app, purchasing products, or attending releases and events, which increases their chances in future draws or grants them exclusive access to certain products or other benefits.
  2. Achievement Badges: Recognize milestones like making their first purchase, engaging in app events, or purchasing a certain number of limited-release sneakers. These badges can help to validate the commitment of true sneakerheads.
  3. Exclusive, Level-based  Drops for Gamified Users: Give loyal customers early or guaranteed access to certain high-demand sneakers based on their points or achievements, reducing the dominance of bots and resellers.
  4. Consolation Prizes: Users who aren't selected in the draw can receive small rewards, such as discounts on future purchases, free shipping, or early access to upcoming draws.
  5. Positive Messaging: After the draw, send messages that reinforce positive emotions and keep users engaged.
  6. Early access: Create the option to sign up 24 hours before the draw, reducing negative emotions associated with missing out after waking up in the morning.
  7. Raffle chat: While waiting in the virtual line for a raffle you can chat with other people, this may reduce stress and engage into community
  8. Transparent Algorithms: Explain how the draw system works so that users understand the process is fair. For example, publish the rules, including details about anti-bot measures.

Game on!

The raffle system remains unchanged, but the game rules have been updated. Going forward, only users with a specific rank or those who have earned the required badge will be eligible to participate in certain raffles.
We will clearly communicate the rules to ensure fairness, and bots will be excluded.

Check-in, collect them all!

Achievement badges – motivation, rewards, and exclusive opportunities

Feature rewards users for their activity and progress in the app, enhancing engagement. Badges are earned through key actions such as reaching specific point milestones, completing challenges, or maintaining consistent activity. Each badge serves not only as a visual reward but also as motivation for further exploration and competition. Users can collect them, display them on their profile, and compare their achievements with others.Additionally, status badges grant access to exclusive raffles, available only to users of a certain rank. This makes earning distinctions more meaningful, providing real benefits and special opportunities within the app.

Positive communication – encouragement and support

This feature is all about making users feel valued and supported. It includes uplifting messaging and consolation rewards to acknowledge their effort, even when things don’t go their way.If people go the extra mile for a simple newsletter discount, why not show appreciation for their engagement in a more meaningful way? Hey, marketing team—let’s make sure they feel seen and appreciated.
